Union Mine High School will transition from Distance Learning to an in-person Hybrid model of instruction which includes both on-site in-person instruction and distance learning.
Tuesday, October 13th is first day of in person instruction for Cohort A Group with the Hybrid Bell Schedule.
Wednesday, October 14th is the first day of in person instruction for Cohort B Group with the Hybrid Bell Schedule.
Hybrid Bell Schedule:
All students will work from home on Monday.
For the remainder of the week, students have been split into either Cohort A or Cohort B.
Cohort “A” will attend class in-person at Union Mine on Tuesday & Thursday.
Cohort “B” will attend class in-person at Union Mine on Wednesday & Friday.
On students’ asynchronous days:
Some teachers will choose to livestream (simulcast) their classes and have the students at home join their "In Person" class virtually. If a teacher chooses to livestream, it is an expectation that students be on time and follow the bell schedule listed below.
Other teachers will choose to pre-record their lessons, deliver content via different mode of media and provide their students with independent work to do asynchronously.
If a student needs assistance during their asynchronous days, staff will be available virtually during the Distance Learning Support time at the end of the day.
Every student at Union Mine has been assigned to either Cohort A or Cohort B.
Once you are in the Parent Portal, find your student’s schedule. Listed under Period 7 your student will be assigned to either A or B day. (See below image from Aeries Parent Portal website or the APP)
It is important to remember that in order to maintain the healthiest environment possible, counselors worked extremely hard to balance the cohorts. As a result, switching Cohort Groups is not possible.

Transportation will be provided for all students that use our bus system.
Students will be required to wear masks at all times while on campus.
Students requesting a medical exemption will need a note from their physician. Those students with an exemption will be required to wear a face shield with a drape. All medical exemption requests must be submitted to our school nurse, Diana Campbell, in order to explore alternatives and/or to have that exemption granted. If you have specific questions regarding the guidelines for face coverings, please reference the hyperlink below or email Mrs. Campbell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parents will have to complete and submit an online Symptom Checker for their student every day verifying that they are symptom free to attend school. Students demonstrating any symptoms at school will need to go home immediately.
Teachers will maintain 6 feet of separation from students in class.
Class sizes have been set to 20 people in a classroom including the teacher. Students will be spaced as far apart as practicable.
Students will be responsible for sanitizing/washing their hands before and after class.
If a student is exposed to a person that has tested positive or is experiencing symptoms, they will need to remain home and communicate with the school nurse to determine the length of quarantine. During these absences, staff will provide the missing work and assignments.
Students that are unscheduled should not be on campus unless their unscheduled block falls during the school day (Block 2 or Block 3).
If your student has Block 1 unscheduled, they should not arrive to campus until 9:50 am. If a student has Block 4 unscheduled, they need to leave campus no later 1:00 pm.
Students should not come to school on their off days.
