Spring cleaning time is here! Union Mine’s AVID program is now collecting used clothing donations. Donations will be accepted Monday, April 17 through Friday, April 21. For one week only parents will be able to drop off old and unwanted bags of clothing in order to raise money for our school and the AVID program. Our goal is to collect 25 bags. Donations can be dropped off at the front office during the school day for the entire week.
The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program is geared towards helping AVID students get into a four year college and has helped the community with numerous hours of community service, and has played a huge role in helping kids stay on the track to success. We have been given a chance to hopefully start a legacy which will carry on to other future AVID classes. Help us make a difference in our community and our school by cleaning out your closets and donating the unwanted clothes/blankets/towels/sheets/etc.
This week kicks off AVID’s annual “Kiss a Senior Goodbye” sales at lunch. What is this? Students/staff/parents can purchase a small notecard for 50 cents to write a well wish for any graduating senior. This notecard will be turned into the box in the front office and at senior check out, each senior will pick up a bag filled with these notes and candy kisses. The money goes directly back to the AVID program. It’s a great way to say goodbye to a senior!
