Union Mine High School will continue with the Hybrid model of instruction which includes both on-site in-person instruction and distance learning.
  • All students will work from home on Monday.
  • For the remainder of the week, students have been split into either Cohort A (T/TH) or Cohort B (W/F).
  • Cohort “A” will attend class in-person at Union Mine on Tuesday & Thursday.
  • Cohort “B” will attend class in-person at Union Mine on Wednesday & Friday.
  • On students’ days at home:
    • On the days when students work from home they will be expected to virtually attend all classes.
    • Teachers will livestream (simulcast) and have the students at home join their class via Google Meet or Zoom.
    • There are a few classes that live streaming is not possible, due to safety reasons. (For example, PE and Ag Mechanics.)
      • For those exceptions to classes, teachers will deliver content via Google Classroom to provide students with independent work.
    • For livestream classes, it is expected that students be on time, be engaged, and have their cameras on.

How to find your Cohort Group and Schedule?

  • Every student at Union Mine has been assigned to either Cohort A (T/Th) or Cohort B (W/F).
  • Your student's Cohort Group can be found within the Student/Parent Aeries Portal
    • Once you are in the Parent Portal, click on "Classes".
    • After clicking on "Classes", check the "View Only Current Term" box.
    • Under Period 7 you will see the days your student is assigned to attend school.
    • T - TH is Cohort A
    • W - F is Cohort B
    • It is important to note that counselors worked extremely hard to balance the cohorts. As a result, switching cohort groupings is not possible.
  • Cohort A:
    • Monday, Wednesday & Friday: Work from Home
    • Tuesday and Thursday: On campus attending classes
  • Cohort B:
    • Monday, Tuesday & Thursday: Work from Home
    • Wednesday and Friday: On campus attending classes

Transportation:

Safety:

  • Students will be required to wear masks at all times while on campus.
  • Students requesting a medical exemption will need a note from their physician.  Those students with an exemption will be required to wear a face shield with a drape.  All medical exemption requests must be submitted to our school nurse, Diana Campbell, in order to explore alternatives and/or to have that exemption granted.  If you have specific questions regarding the guidelines for face coverings, please reference the hyperlink below or email Mrs. Campbell at dcampbell@eduhsd.k12.ca.us.

Health:

  • Parents will have to complete and submit an online Symptom Checker for their student every day verifying that they are symptom free to attend school.  Students demonstrating any symptoms at school will need to go home immediately.
  • Teachers will maintain 6 feet of separation from students in class.
  • Class sizes have been set to 20 people in a classroom including the teacher.  Students will be spaced as far apart as practicable.
  • Students will be responsible for sanitizing/washing their hands before and after class.
  • If a student is exposed to a person that has tested positive or is experiencing symptoms, they will need to remain home and communicate with the school nurse to determine the length of quarantine.   During these absences, staff will provide the missing work and assignments.
  • Students that are unscheduled should not be on campus unless their unscheduled block falls during the school day (Block 2 or Block 3).
  • If your student has Block 1 unscheduled, they should not arrive to campus until 9:50 am.  If a student has Block 4 unscheduled, they need to leave campus no later 1:00 pm.
  • Students should not come to school on their off days.
