The PSAT is the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test. It is a practice test for the SAT - one of the required college entrance exams, and is essential for those students who plan to attend a four year college after high school. 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students may take the PSAT - it is good practice, and has been shown to improve student scores on the SAT, because it shows students where their strengths and weaknesses lie.
For 11th grade students, the PSAT is also the qualifier for the National Merit Scholarship. The National Merit Scholarship is a national program that honors the top PSAT scores in the nation.
The test will be held in October during school hours from 7:50 to about 11:00 in the small gym.
